All I can think about is warm weather. On the horizon I have a bachelorette party in South Beach in April and of course my trip to Cabo at the end of May. While I day dream of sunshine and beach I also imagine what this season will bring as far as garb. Lusting after Caylpso tunics and maxi dresses for the Spring/Summer.
Just heard from a little bird that Calypso is actually designing a line for target to be released May 1st! I may have to make the trip out to the county for this one.
At a recent girls gathering the topic of wet yoga gear came up. If you know Bikram or hot yoga, you know that it’s quite a nuisance to have a bag full of wet clothes especially if you go straight to work after class. One issue I may be having is the fact that I carry a canvas tote.
After some research, I found myself cruising the Lululemon website (obviously) and found the perfect solution.
I’m not big on purses so this will have to be my next indulgence at $98. It will pair nicely with the yoga mat bag my bf got me for Christmas. For something I use just about 5 times a week, I don’t see it as frivolous but more as an investment…and I’m all about being economical.
This morning on my run along the harbor, I had at least three opportunities to take a shortcut. Although they would not have decreased my run by all that much, shortcuts are always very attractive to me. I’m pretty sure shortcuts look so good to us because we get to our destination quicker by way of saving time, effort, and expense.

Needless to say, I resisted the urge to go the shorter distance. I wouldn’t be penalized if I took the easier route, it would get me home sooner and I would have to put forth a lot less effort. Sometimes in my life I feel like I’ve taken the long route. The route that might take me just a little longer than others to get to my desired destination. It’s not attractive at all. I have taken twists and turns, sometimes I even get lost and off the path. I’m never sure that what I’m doing is the right way, but one thing I thought of this morning is that taking the long route makes you stronger. When running, it increases your endurance. In relationships, it helps you learn from experiences. At work, it ensures that you have taken the time to learn the details and not rushed through something just to get it done.
I may not have gone to law school like the rest of my family, but I definitely did not take a shortcut through life so far. What happens if you take a shortcut and you get to your “destination” before you even know what you want your destination to be?
Deep for a Friday but so true in so many ways.
I do have a soft spot for kids who struggle with their weight. Often times it is something they cannot control. I’ve been following The Biggest Loser this season as well as Heavy on A&E and I can’t get enough!
You can imagine this video hit home for me.
THROOOOOOWW BACK. Happy Friday.
Yep, it’s lent already.
Same deal as last year, no cheese and no beer. I’m not even sure how religious I am anymore, but it can’t hurt to sacrifice some things for 40 days in the name of the Being (do you capitalize being?) that did it ALL. I’m not too worried about it. My self control is pretty decent.
Things I will miss the most:
– Sunday Fundays at JD’s and Portside
– 22 ounce Stella
– Iggie’s pizza
Good news is, I will need to be in a bathing suit third week in April for a friends bachelorette party and again in June for our trip to CABO! Never been and super excited to kick off the summer in style. Hoping that without cheese and beer my stomach will be at it’s flattest.
When I started this blog two years ago, I didn’t give a hoot if people cared about my blog. It was a creative outlet for me when I had random thoughts and wanted to get them down. Now that I follow several blogs, I realize I actually DO care what other people write about because it’s relevant and often times useful information. So I guess what I’m saying is I haven’t felt very relevant lately.
bearing upon or connected with the matter in hand; pertinent: a relevant remark.
Someone asked me the other day “How are you doing Ali?” The first thing to come out of my mouth was “I’m doing great!” They looked at me quizzically waiting for the next sentence to explain why I was doing so fine. Truth is, nothing new or earth shattering has happened to me recently, but every day is pretty darn good. Sure, I get frustrated with work sometimes, not get enough sleep and get moody on occasion, but all in all I have no complaints. Who the HECK wants to read about THAT???
I guess what I need to realize is that just because there hasn’t been a lot going on in my life, doesn’t mean I don’t have a lot to share. Anyone who knows me knows I’m rarely without something to say.
Stay tuned for many relevant blog posts about everything and nothing at all.
